If you’re following me on Instagram, you might’ve seen my caption about this post-if so, have you figured out what’s different about me yet? I cut my hair! Look here. You’ll notice I used to have much longer hair.
It might seem silly, but this was a huge decision for me. When it comes to my hair, I’m not big on change. My hair right now is its natural color–really dark brown with auburn highlights–and it stayed that way until I was 22 years old and my sister (who is a professional hairstylist) colored it for the first time!
For some reason, I feel like my hair has a lot to do with my identity. I’ve worn my hair long most of my life and the last time I cut it, I got lots of comments. Not mean ones, but things like, “It’s so strange seeing you with short hair. It doesn’t seem right.” So when I decided to cut it again a few weeks ago, I’d been thinking about it for three solid months before I told my sister I wanted a “lob” or long bob. And she was happy to help me get the look I wanted, I realize I’m very lucky to have her as my sister!
At this point in my busy life with two little ones, a long bob seemed more manageable. Plus I was ready for something fun and different! I’ve also been thinking about coloring it again (I’ve been considering this for over a year!) and finally decided it was time to do it.
In other news, I love this black lace dress. It’s comfortable, stylish, and I especially love the lace sleeves. It’s perfect for church and I even wore it while I was pregnant. It was part of my existing wardrobe, so I linked to similar dresses above. Happy Monday, I hope you have a great week!
Anyone else have a hard time with cutting/coloring their hair? Tell me it’s not just me! 🙂
