FITzee Foods Review

When I first heard about FITzee Foods, I thought: healthy meals delivered to my doorstep? No cooking? Yes, please!

As you know, I’m a mom. I spend almost every waking minute of my life taking care of two precious little ones, and I often realize after I’ve prepared breakfast, countless snacks, and lunch for my kids, that I haven’t eaten anything that day. Oops!

Then I’m in a rush to eat something fast and easy (and usually not healthy) as my kids run in circles around me. For this reason, the whole healthy meals delivered to me thing sounded great!

So I checked out the FITzee Foods website to see what meal selections they had to offer. I found some tasty-looking pictures and tasty-sounding meal descriptions.

Next step, order the food! Turkey Bacon Scramble, Paleo Hash N Eggs with Chicken, Paleo Carne Asada Bowl, Peanut Butter & Jelly Pancakes, Corn Risotto with Chicken, Paleo Spaghetti, Red Chicken Enchiladas, Paleo Steak Pizzaiola, and some bars (including meal replacement bars) to snack on. Then, I waited until the delivery arrived! I unpacked the meals and began to try them.

My favorite meals:

Peanut Butter & Jelly Pancakes (pictured above) – on the FITzee Foods packaging there are instructions explaining the different ways to heat up your food. For the pancakes, I chose to heat them up in a pan and I was happy with how they turned out! These pancakes are very thick, especially delicious dipped in the peanut butter and jelly. Another thing I really liked about the pancakes is that they were filling. So filling, in fact, that I was personally full after eating two of the pancakes! Obviously you may have a different experience, but for me the portion was more than enough.

Red Chicken Enchiladas (pictured above and below) – I cooked this meal in the microwave and my husband made a comment about how good they smelled! They did smell really yummy and I thought they tasted delicious too. They were flavorful and not at all bland.

Turkey Bacon Scramble (not pictured) – Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of this meal, but you can see a picture of it on the FITzee Foods website here. This was another flavorful meal with turkey bacon, red bell pepper, spinach, and cheese.

My favorite thing about trying FITzee foods was that I had meals available to me whenever I was hungry. I could quickly and easily heat the meals up if necessary, and on top of everything, the meals were healthy so I’d say it was overall a good experience!

Have you heard of FITzee foods before? What would you order if you tried it?

Xx, Emily

Make Oral Health Care Simple and Fun

A smile from my husband or one of my children can turn a rough day around. I think a smile can be incredibly powerful, and a healthy smile can make a huge difference—not just in pictures but in life, because I believe that oral health care is tied to overall health.

As a wife and mom, I frequently think about the oral health and overall health of my husband and children–and I know I’m not the only one, which is why I’m excited to tell you about the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected Toothbrush. This is one seriously awesome toothbrush!

I found it at my local Bed, Bath, and Beyond and downloaded the Philips Sonicare app, which gives you real-time feedback on your brushing skills (amazing, right?). It tells you if you miss a spot or if you apply too much pressure–basically, it lets you know how good you are at brushing your teeth. I love measurability and being able to see progress–this app does exactly that. It helps you to enhance your brushing routine.

The Philips Sonicare app is simple to set up—it takes you through the steps and even has a video you can watch about how to brush your teeth. Then you have the opportunity to set your own oral health care goals, things like whitening your teeth or taking care of your gums.

I love how this app takes such a simple and straightforward approach to helping me manage my own oral health. I want my husband to get one too so we can both track our progress in reaching and maintaining our goals.

3 Fun Ways To Work Towards Your Smile Goals
(as a Family)

Focus on One Thing at a Time – Struggle with flossing regularly? As a family, focus on flossing for a week. Challenge each family member to floss at least once a day. At the end of the week, follow up to see who completed the challenge. Each family member that finished the flossing challenge gets a reward of your choice!

Make it an On-Going Competition – The Philips Sonicare app has monthly overviews so you can track improvement. After each family member has used their toothbrush and the app long enough to gather the data, everyone can compare results.

Was one of you more consistent than the rest? That family member can be the “Monthly Smile Champion”. You can add rewards or privileges to the title (e.g. no Saturday chores for the month).

Create Your Own Family Goal – Within the Philips Sonicare app you can create a custom goal. You come up with your own name for it (e.g. Bogner Family Goal), then select three oral health care activities to focus on (e.g. brushing for 2 minutes or brushing twice a day, in the a.m. and p.m.). Whoever completes the family goal first gets a reward.

So there you have it, 3 ways to work towards your smile goals as a family. I am so excited about reaching my own oral health care goals by using this toothbrush and app!

10 Songs For Your Workout Playlist

Emily Bogner Running Shoes

Sometimes I get tired of working out to the same playlist and I have to switch it up! I’m also pretty particular about what songs I listen to while I’m doing certain things (cardio, strength-training, stretching, etc.).

Because everyone loves to find a song that pumps them up for a workout or keeps them going through it, I’ve put together a list of 10 of my favorite songs to listen to while I workout:

1. ALEX BOYÉ – I AM GOLD

We went to an Alex Boyé concert in 2013 and during the concert he shared that a conversation with his wife about the Summer 2012 Olympics was the inspiration for this song, which in my opinion makes it kinda the perfect song to work out to this summer! I am gold, you are gold, each of us is gold because of our identity as children of God and I love that message.

2. ATB – COULD YOU BELIEVE (AIRPLAY MIX)

I love listening to this song when I’m doing cardio, it’s got a great beat! Plus, the fact that the words “running” and “don’t stop” are in the lyrics keep me pumped (regardless of their context) 🙂

3. CASCADA – FEVER (RYAN THISTLEBECK MIX)

If this song doesn’t get me ready for a workout, I don’t know what will because this beat just yells at me to get to the gym.

4. COMMODORES – LADY (YOU BRING ME UP)

This song is on the slower side. I listen to it when I’m doing weights or other strengthening exercises because it has a nice, steady rhythm. Sometimes I play it at the end of my workout when I’m stretching.

5. BRUNO MARS – TREASURE

Songs can trigger memories and the memory that comes along with this song is like taking a mini vacation for me–it played on the radio a lot when we lived in Hawaii, so it reminds me of driving along Kamehameha highway, and I love that.

It has a nice, smooth rhythm so I listen to this one when I’m doing weights or strength training.

6. STEVE ANGELLO & MATISSE & SADKO – SLVR

This song is a little intense but it gets me ready to roll! I listen to it and I’m like, okay, bring on the treadmill, bring on the leg press, let’s do this!

7. BIGBANG – SOMEBODY TO LOVE (KOREAN VERSION)

I think fans of K-Pop will like this one. My husband served his mission in Korea so he lived there for a couple years and already knew this song, but I didn’t hear it until a little while after we met and it was the first time I had heard K-Pop. This song is fun and upbeat!

8. FLIGHT FACILITIES – STAND STILL (FEAT. MICKY GREEN) [WAVE RACER REMIX]

This track is unique. Because of the change in rhythm throughout the song I use this one for interval training. I’ll run like heck during the quicker part, and slow it down a bit during the relaxed part.

9. CALVIN HARRIS – THINKING ABOUT YOU (FEAT. AYAH MARAR)

Catchy song, steady pace. ‘Nuff said.

10. OWL CITY – WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN?

Had to end the list with this one because it’s the happiest of them all, and has a fun, electronic beat.

Well, there it is! A list of 10 of my favorite tracks to add to your workout playlist. I hope some of them work out for you (please excuse the pun). 🙂

Do you like any of these songs? Which ones?
