About the blog
Over the years, I’ve had friends ask me for fashion advice and about how I stay confident (probably because of my pageant days, more about that under about me). They’d text me pictures of different shoes, outfit ideas, and dresses for events. Sometimes they’d even ask me how to handle certain social situations or how to present themselves.
One night, after I kept getting picture texts from one of my friends asking for advice, my husband asked why I didn’t just start a personal styling business? I told him it wasn’t the right direction for me, that I wanted to reach women on a more personal level, and I knew I wanted it to be more than fashion — and so the idea for this blog was born!
After talking to a lot of people about it, I decided a blog was the way to go. It would be personal and I could cover things I’m passionate about!
Well, that was four (updated in 2017: now five!) years ago.
Since then I’ve done tons of brainstorming and put in a lot of work but being the perfectionist that I am, I was concerned about posting anything that didn’t live up to the “perfect” standard I had in my head.
Unfortunately, I let that ridiculous mindset keep me from creating my blog until I had this eye-opening/light-bulb-in-the-brain realization in 2016: as long as it’s real, it’s right.
I’m not perfect so this blog won’t be perfect either and I’m totally cool with that.
With this blog, I strive to encourage other women to be their best selves–from their own health & fitness to their beauty routines to the clothes they wear and how they wear them–I want my readers to feel confident and beautiful from the inside out! And if I can provide motivation and encouragement that helps even just one woman, that’s totally worth it to me.
My name is Emily Bogner and I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I spent the majority of my childhood in ballet, tap, and jazz classes. After about nine years of dance, I became a cheerleader, and during my senior year of high school I got really into pageants. During the three years that I competed, I won several pageants including four state titles.

I attended college at Cal State Fullerton in Orange County where I received my bachelor’s degree in Communications Public Relations. About a year after graduating I decided I wanted to get a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and moved to Utah to attend a part-time program while I worked in the finance industry.
What I didn’t expect was to meet a ridiculously handsome guy at the gym who was moving to Hawaii in 10 days to finish his schooling. But he asked for my number and we went on a date the next day. Long story short, we clicked.
We spent every single day together until he moved. We went to a concert, a dance, four-wheeling. After all our adventures and the memories we made in such a short time, it was surprisingly hard to say goodbye and so we decided to stay in touch. About a month later he asked me to be his girlfriend. Another month and a half after that he asked if I’d visit him in Hawaii.
One night during my visit we watched the sunset from the beach and he proposed!

We got married in April 2012 at the Sacramento LDS Temple. Since then, we’ve lived in California, Texas, Utah, and Hawaii. Now we’re back where we started, in our home state of California. We have two adorable kids, Griffin and Enoch. I’m a former beauty queen and career woman turned stay-at-home mom, currently getting my MBA and working on a few other projects along the way. And I feel blessed to have the opportunity to do all of these things.
Plus, I can honestly say I’m married to my dream guy and best friend. And just like those first 10 days, we’re still having fun together . . .
This blog is 100% authentically me and the decision to put my name on it was my way of promising myself to stop stressing about making things “perfect” and remind myself all that matters is that it’s real.
P.S. I try my best to post once a week!
